Sometimes companies take time in bringing the essential features. Social media apps are designed mainly for mobiles and when they became popular, the web version of apps also came but some features are missing.
This happened with Instagram, it gained a large number of users, the app got a launch in October 2010 and a million people are having accounts in December. After the acquisition of Instagram by Facebook the app became bigger in many ways.
Users and their posts are growing, 500 million people see and interact with Instagram stories and many people want to post from their computers but Instagram is not initially providing this option. But the good news is here now you can post from your computers.
Instagram has given users a new option and can now post from their desktop as well. Users will get the option to share photos and videos by visiting the Instagram website from Mac and Windows Systems. However, iPad users have not yet been given the option to create Instagram posts. Screenshots of the feature surfaced last month and it was reported that users will get the option of sharing from desktop or laptop.
Industry insider Matt Navara (@MattNavarra) was the first to reveal the new feature for Instagram’s desktop website. At present, the new feature is not available to all users and is being tested with some profiles. The new feature is likely to be rolled out to all users in different phases. Earlier users could only post on Instagram with the help of Android or iOS apps.
The process of posting Instagram on the website will be confined to steps like Create, Edit, and Publish and will also have an experience like a mobile app on a big screen. Mobile devices will not always be required to post businesses and creators like this.
Procedure for desktop post
You need to log in after visiting the website to post Instagram on the desktop. This will be followed by tapping the + (plus) icon in the top right corner and the option to select images or videos from the desktop. They will then be given general editing options. After editing photos or videos, users will get the option to add captions, location, and hashtags and share the post.
Editing like mobile app
Before sharing the photo, you can crop it on the desktop in four different sizes – original, square, portrait, or landscape. This will be followed by the option to choose correctly from many of the filters shown in the app. Users will also get the option to make changes in brightness, contrast, saturation, temperature, fade, and vintage. While posting the video, users will be able to choose the frame of their choice and turn the sound on or off.
Ads in reels
Instagram started showing ads to reels in select markets a few months ago, and now the reeled ad has been launched for all users. Users in the app already see ads in stories and feeds, and now ads will also be shown in the new Reels tab. Instagram reported the change in the official blog post and said that with this initiative, businesses would be able to reach their audience better.
